The Philippine Research , Education and Government Information Network (PREGINET) provides an array of services to its partners. These services are made to fulfill PREGINET’s role in the R&D arena by allowing its partners to access local and foreign content, enabling real-time interaction, and facilitating formation of user communities.

Network Connectivity

PREGINET's network connectiviy provides 10/155 Mbps connections to the commodity internet. It also offers 155 Mbps connection to international research and education networks. Through its strong partnership with major telecommunication providers in the country, PREGINET provides faster access to large amount of data and databases. As part of its Network Connectivity service, PREGINET also supports native IPv6 to all core routers, Border Gateway Protocol IPv6 peering to full IPv6 internet routing table, and IPv6 traffic with the same performance as IPv4.

PhOpenIX

The Philippine Open Internet Exchange (PhOpenIX) is the only Exchange in the Philippine Internet industry operated by a neutral institution that allows the exchanges of Internet traffic in a free-market environment among local internet and data service providers. It is a Carrier-neutral Internet Protocol version 4 and Internet Protocol version 6 multilateral peering exchange. PhOpenIX is being managed and operated by DOST-ASTI and is a non-profit, membership-based, and open to all service.

Eduroam

Education roaming (eduroam) is a global roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. It provides reliable and convenient wireless internet access to students, researchers, and staff at participating institutions in over 100 countries around the world. The Department of Science and Technology – Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI), through the Philippine Research, Education, and Government Information Network (PREGINET), was the first to deploy eduroam services in the Philippines in the early 2000s. As the country’s national research and education network (NREN), PREGINET has been connecting state universities and colleges like the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD), the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), and the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), among others, to the Internet via eduroam.

File Sender

File Sender is a web-based application that allows secure and fast transfer of large files. Shared files are only available for a limited time to the intended recipients to ensure secure and proper file sharing. After the set time limitation, files will be deleted from the application's database. File sender is easy to use and can handle any file type and size.
